RED BEETS
Beets have long been valued as a blood tonic in traditional medicine practices. They’re rich in calcium, iron, copper, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous and the always important zinc, as well as many other trace minerals important for the body’s proper functioning. Beets are loaded with vitamins too, particularly carotenes (including beta-carotene, a precursor to vitamin A, vitamin B complex and vitamin C.

Beets also contain a number of phytochemicals including lutein and zeaxanthin which have protective effects on the eyes. Beets have also been used for hundreds of years by the natives to help clean the digestive system and detoxify the body of harmful chemicals.
